What is The London 11+ Consortium?
The London 11+ Consortium is a group of 14 independent girls’ schools which share a single assessment for entrance to Year 7. It began several decades ago with the aim of reducing stress at 11+. The traditional written papers were replaced with an online assessment in 2023 which was developed with Atom Learning as the platform provider.

What is the exam like?
The London 11+ Consortium exam is 1 hour 40 minutes long, there is a 30 minute break in the middle. The test is taken online at your daughter’s school or a Consortium school provides an examination centre.
There are five parts to the examination; the first three are adaptive. They are taken in the following order:
Maths - (20 minutes) only material from the Year 5 syllabus is tested
Non-verbal Reasoning - (10 minutes) Patterns and logical thinking is tested
English Comprehension and Verbal Reasoning- (30 minutes) a piece of fiction is written especially for the exam and extended writing answers are not required.
BREAK for 30 minutes
Problem Solving - (15 minutes) candidates are required to solve multi-step word and number problems
Creative Comprehension - (25 minutes) here pupils are required to analyse a variety of sources to answer questions.
Pupils eligible for extra time are given additional time in each section.
In addition to the online test, a common reference form, completed by the pupil’s current head teacher, is usually submitted. An imaginative interview experience is the third element to the process.

It is worth noting that the format of the test is very similar to the Quest Assessments which applicants to City of London School for Girls and Haberdashers’ Girls’ School will take, although these schools do not belong to the Consortium.
What’s the application process?
The closing date for applications for Year 7 2027 is Friday 6th November 2026.
Parents must request an application form directly from the senior school you are applying to. Separate forms must be requested from each additional school. The school where your daughter sits the exam will not influence the process.
The Consortium Assessments dates for 2026 will be Friday 27 November, Tuesday 1 December or Thursday 3 December.

English - Comprehension- identifying the different question types.
Maths - Time, converting between units, analogue and digital clocks, 24 hour clocks and word problems with Time.
Year 5
English - Comprehension- extract from The Rainbow by D. H. Lawrence.
Maths - Quick 10 minute quiz on mental arithmetic and formal methods for calculations. Then a lesson on revision of BIDMAS and positive and negative numbers in readiness for the introduction of simple algebra concepts.
Verbal Reasoning- Timed tests on various topics.
Non-verbal Reasoning - Timed tests on various topics.
Interview Practice - “What abilities and strengths will you bring to your new senior school?”
