Does my child need Atom Learning?

What is Atom learning?

Atom learning is an Ed Tech platform designed to help children prepare for exams, particularly the 11 plus exams for entrance to grammar and independent schools. We have used Atom Learning with children since its inception in 2018.  It is now used by thousands of schools and families.

It has a comprehensive coverage of the four subjects: English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The questions are predominantly multiple choice so it’s good practice for ISEB pre-tests, GL and CEM tests. We like the detailed explanations provided which helps children understand why they have an incorrect answer.

When should I start?

We provide all our pupils with a subscription to the Century Tech platform where we set weekly homework assignments and believe this should be all you need until the last term of Year 5. However, if you are looking to begin Atom Learning or your school already provides your child with an account we would recommend the “Learning Journey”. This appeals to children with its ”gamified” style and is fully adaptive to create a bespoke experience rather like Century’s “Recommended Pathway”.

As your child nears the end of Year 5 and the summer holidays before the 11+ exams we think an Atom Account can be very helpful indeed. There is a great bank of mock tests and practice papers and the opportunity to input a target school. The parent portal can provide valuable insight into areas to improve.

How much does it cost?

The entry level account costs around £40/month. The top price tier at £70/month is called “Exam Prep Plus” and this is the subscription that has the full exam prep plan which we think is worth considering towards the end of Y5.

How can Tutorsquared help?

We have a designated Tutor Portalon Atom Learning. This means that if we are linked to your child’s account we can view their activity and set tasks to facilitate their progress. If your child already has an account we can email you a request to link to your child’s account. You just need to let us know.

If you are new to Atom we can send you an “invitation to subscribe” which will mean you get 10% off your first month.
